A story to share together
Willa Waterdrop's Great Sky Journey
A friendly water droplet named Willa travels from a blue pond to the clouds and back again to teach children about the water cycle.

Willa Waterdrop lived in a sparkly blue pond surrounded by green reeds. She was a tiny, clear droplet with a silver bow who loved to splash. Today, the pond felt very warm and quiet under the bright morning sky.

High above the pond, Sunny the Sun began to shine his golden rays. He was a big, yellow circle with orange sunglasses and a happy smile. Sunny looked down at Willa and gave her a warm, glowing wink from the sky.

As Sunny grew warmer, Willa felt very light and wiggly. She started to turn into invisible vapor and float slowly upward toward the sky. This is called evaporation, and it felt like she was flying on a warm breeze.

Willa rose higher and higher until the pond looked like a tiny blue speck. She met many other water droplets who were also floating up into the cool air. They all giggled as they soared toward a fluffy white cloud.

Inside the cloud, it was much cooler than the pond below. Willa and her friends began to huddle together to stay warm. This is called condensation, which turns the invisible vapor back into tiny, shiny drops of liquid water.

More and more droplets joined the group inside the cloud. The cloud grew bigger, turning from bright white to a heavy, dark gray color. Willa felt very heavy now, and she bounced around with all of her watery friends.

Suddenly, the gray cloud could not hold any more water. Willa and her friends began to tumble out of the sky together. This is called precipitation, and it felt like jumping off a very high diving board into the air.

Willa fell down through the cool wind, passing birds and tall treetops. She landed with a soft splash on a bright green leaf. She slid down the leaf and tumbled into a small, bubbling stream that moved very fast.

The stream carried Willa on a bumpy ride over rocks and under bridges. She laughed as the water pushed her along the winding path. Soon, she saw the familiar green reeds and the calm blue water of her home pond.

Finally, Willa was back in her cozy pond where her journey first began. She knew that when Sunny the Sun came out tomorrow, her adventure would start all over again. And so, the wonderful water cycle continues forever and ever.
