Deep inside the colorful Land of Math, a round blue circle named Zero lived in a house shaped like a ring. Zero was very kind, but he felt different because he represented nothing at all.

One sunny morning, Zero decided to go for a walk to find some friends. He put on his shimmering purple cape and bounced down the path. He wondered if his special power would work today.

Soon, Zero met a tall, yellow number named Seven. Seven was wearing a fancy red bowtie and a tall black hat. He was busy counting the clouds in the sky and looked very important.

Hello friend! Do you want to play the multiplication game? asked Zero with a wide smile. Seven tipped his black hat and agreed. He had never played a game with a round blue circle before.
Page 5
Zero stepped forward and gave Seven a great big hug with his shimmering purple cape. Suddenly, there was a flash of silver light and a sound like a soft bell. Something very magical was happening!

When the silver light faded, Seven was gone. In his place stood another round blue circle who looked exactly like Zero! Multiplication had turned the tall yellow number into a twin of his new friend.

The two Zeros bounced along until they met Eight. Eight was a plump, orange furry number wearing bright green sneakers. She was busy jumping over puddles and laughing loudly as she splashed around.

Would you like to join our group? the Zeros asked together. Eight giggled and jumped right into their arms. Once again, the shimmering purple cape wrapped around the orange fur and the green sneakers.

With another flash of magic, Eight transformed into a round blue circle too. Now there were three Zeros! They realized that whenever Zero multiplies with anyone, his power makes them part of his family.

And so, Zero learned that he was the most powerful number in the meadow. He was happy to have so many twins to play with. Finally, everyone understood that multiplying by zero always equals zero!
