Turbo the Turtle and the Slow-Down Snack
A fast-moving turtle learns that eating colorful, garden-fresh foods gives him lasting energy while greasy snacks make him feel tired and slow.

Turbo the Turtle was the fastest racer in the Green Meadow. He wore his red sweatband and white sneakers every single day. Turbo loved to zip past the flowers while his yellow shell flashed in the bright morning sun.

One sunny afternoon, a new stand opened near the racing track. It sold salty fries and greasy burgers that smelled very strong. Turbo was hungry and decided to try the heavy food instead of his usual crunchy green lettuce.

Turbo ate a giant box of salty fries and a very large soda. At first, the salt tasted yummy and he felt quite full. But soon, his tummy started to feel heavy like a big, round bowling ball was inside.

Penny the Panda walked by with her woven basket full of bright peppers and crisp cucumbers. She wore her purple apron and smiled at her friend. She asked Turbo if he wanted to race to the big waterfall today.

Turbo tried to stand up, but his legs felt like heavy noodles. He started to run, but he could not find his usual speed. His white sneakers felt clunky, and he had to stop to take a very long nap.

Penny knelt down and patted Turbo’s yellow shell gently. She explained that fast food is like bad fuel for a racing car. It tastes exciting for a minute, but it does not help your body grow strong or stay fast.

Penny shared a piece of crunchy broccoli and a sweet red apple from her basket. Turbo took a small bite and felt the cool, fresh juice. It was different from the greasy food, and it made his mouth feel very clean.

The next morning, Turbo chose a big bowl of fruit and oats for breakfast. He felt light and bouncy again! His yellow shell felt lighter, and he tied his white sneakers extra tight for the big meadow race against his friends.

Turbo zoomed across the finish line faster than ever before. He had so much energy because he chose foods that grew from the earth. He realized that eating well was the best way to keep his body ready for fun adventures.

And from that day on, Turbo and Penny ate healthy snacks together every afternoon. Turbo stayed the fastest turtle in the land. Finally, he knew that the best food gives you the power to play all day long!
