ELEN Story AI is designed so that children's use of the Service does NOT involve the collection of personal information from children. Child profiles within an adult's account are anonymous preference sets — a fictional "magical name" (e.g. Stardust, Captain Sparkle), an avatar chosen from a fixed set of cartoon characters, and a reading-level band. We do not collect a child's real name, age, birth year, birthday, email, phone number, location, voice, or photo. Children cannot create accounts, generate stories, or type free text. This Notice is addressed to parents, guardians, teachers, and other authorised adults and supplements our main Privacy Policy.
Only an adult (age 18 or older, or the age of majority in your jurisdiction) may create an ELEN Story AI account. The adult is the sole user of the Service in the legal sense — they create the account, generate all content, manage subscriptions, and choose what (if anything) to share with children in their care. By creating a child profile, you confirm that the profile contains no personal information about a real child and that you will use a fictional magical name rather than the child's real name.
A child profile under your account contains only: (a) a magical name — a fictional handle you choose or pick from a suggestion list (e.g. Stardust, Pip, Mochi), not the child's real name; (b) an avatar selected from a fixed gallery of cartoon characters; and (c) a reading-level band (e.g. Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced, Tween) — an age range, not an exact age. We do NOT collect: real names, exact ages, birth years, birthdays, email addresses, phone numbers, postal addresses, geolocation, photos, voice recordings, biometric data, government identifiers, school or class information, or health data. Our API actively rejects payloads that contain fields like "name", "first_name", "age", "birthday", "birth_year", "email", or "phone".
In kid mode, the Service is consumption-only. Children can browse and listen to stories that the adult account holder has already created, but they cannot: generate new stories, type free-text prompts, send messages, or upload media. All story-generation and video-generation features are blocked at the API level for any session associated with a child profile. This means there is no pathway through which a child can disclose personal information to the Service or to our AI providers.
Even within the adult account, please do not enter information about a real child in prompts, story titles, descriptions, or support messages. Use fictional names and generic descriptions. Anything entered into prompts may be processed by our AI service providers to generate content, and we cannot retroactively remove information from public stories you choose to share.
Only the adult account holder can publish stories. Children cannot publish, comment on, or share content. Adults remain responsible for reviewing any content they make public and should not include real names, locations, schools, or other identifying details about a real child in publicly shared stories.
As the account holder you can: edit or delete child profiles at any time; rename a magical name; change a profile's avatar or reading level; export your account data; and delete your account, which removes all associated child profiles. These controls are available within the Service. Because child profiles are anonymous, there is no separate "child data" to access, correct, or delete beyond the profile record itself, which the adult controls directly.
Educators using ELEN Story AI in classroom settings should still consult their institution's policies. Because child profiles in our Service are anonymous (no real name, no age) and children cannot input information, ELEN Story AI does not function as a "school official" data processor in the traditional sense — the Service does not receive student records. We recommend educators continue to use fictional handles and avoid entering real student information into prompts.
Anonymous child profile records (magical name, avatar, reading-level band) are retained until the adult account holder deletes the profile or closes the account, subject to backup, fraud prevention, and legal-retention windows. Stories generated by the adult are retained per the main Privacy Policy. Publicly shared content may persist on third-party caches outside our control.
Anonymous profile data and content created by the adult may be processed in countries other than your country of residence, including countries where our service providers operate. Where required by law, we apply appropriate safeguards such as Standard Contractual Clauses.
All stories shown to a child were generated by the adult account holder. Our AI providers apply automated content safety filters during generation, but no automated system is perfect, and the adult must review AI-generated content before showing it to a child. If you encounter content you believe is inappropriate, please report it to [email protected].
We may update this Children's Privacy Notice from time to time. For material changes, we will update the version date, publish the revised Notice, and may display an in-product notice to the adult account holder asking for renewed acceptance.
